Salon of the Dead is the 20th episode of the fifth season and 107th episode overall.
To celebrate their official coming out as a couple, Blair and Dan host a glamorous British-themed Salon, including guests Julian Tepper and Jenna Gribbon (founders of The Oracle Club). Lola lands the audition of a lifetime, but Gossip Girl may have other plans for the Upper East Side's latest It Girl. Meanwhile, Lily and Rufus disagree over the best way to handle the Ivy situation, and Serena and Diana face-off over secrets they both would prefer remain secrets.
Blair and Dan are making their public debut tonight as a couple! We are holding our breath in anticipation.
Serena is still upset because Lola became an “It” girl even though Serena is the one who first lauded the designation. Then Lola says that Gossip Girl isn’t really relevant anymore. Oh no she didn’t!
Rufus and Lily are still living separately. Rufus says he lost himself and just became Lily’s plus one instead of developing together as a couple. Wait, Rufus and Lily get a real storyline? That’s very exciting!
Chuck is still looking for his whomever gave him blood and saved his life.
Gossip Girl, aka Serena, ruins Lola’s audition by sending mean messages. Yeah, because that doesn’t blow up every time. And surprise! Liz/Diana shows up and demands Gossip Girl back. At the same time, Lola goes right to Nate and says she thinks Serena is Gossip Girl. Nate tells Serena immediately.
Diana offers to help Serena, because she has a secret to hide from Chuck. In the meantime, Dan and Blair meet another Queens/ Upper East Side couple who inspire them by describing an intellectual salon. Then Bland decide to have their own Salon, where Dan will announce his second book and claim his place as the most important young writer in New York!
How did Gossip Girl get the amazing chef April Bloomfield to appear? Should she be making amazingly bad-for-you-but-yummy food.
Can we talk about her gnudi in brown butter sauce? OK they would never serve brown butter sauce at an UES Salon.
Dangit. Lily and Rufus almost made up. But then Lily found out Rufus has been paying for Ivy to live in a hotel. Rufus felt bad because she was penniless and homeless. Lily is not having any of it and she’s very very mad at Rufus. Please let them not break up. I actually LIKE Rufus and Lily.
Oh oh, Serena is calling Diana on her blood donation issues.
Diana admits she’s Chuck’s mother. And Lola taped it and posted it on Gossip Girl – all for Chuck to see. Chuck is very unhappy, not in the least because she was sleeping with his best friend. The salon is a disaster and Bland will face it as a team.
Diana and Chuck have a nice heart-to-heart. Diana says she was unfit to raise a child and when Elizabeth couldn’t get pregnant, she gave Chuck to her. It’s up to Chuck to decide if knowing the truth means anything.
Serena says she doesn’t want to give up GG because it’s the only thing she can control. Lola says she’s leaving the UES and returning to Julliard. Sure.
The episode ends with Rufus finding out that his debit card has been cut off. By Lily. Wow she’s just super mean. And it turns out Gossip Girl has another secret she’s holding against Diana.
